Coinbase Executive Suggests Kraken May Reveal the Identity of Satoshi Nakamoto

Satoshi Nakamoto was last active in 2014, and the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken may have information about his identity. This is the conclusion drawn by Coinbase’s Head of Products, Conor Grogan, after analyzing the wallets of the suspected Bitcoin creator.

The expert based his analysis on a recently presented list of Satoshi’s addresses by the analytics firm Arkham, where 1.096 million BTC worth $108 billion are stored.

There is no 100% certainty that all the addresses belong to Satoshi, but there are strong reasons to believe so, Grogan states.

There are 24 documented outgoing transactions from these addresses. The most frequent recipient is the wallet “1PYYj,” which received Bitcoin from the Canadian exchange CaVirtEx.

“I believe this is the first documented on-chain transfer between a wallet associated with Satoshi and a centralized exchange,” Grogan noted.

This address is also linked to the 12ib wallet, one of the most active throughout time. It currently holds 3 BTC.

“This suggests that 1PY was associated with Satoshi or is an early follower/co-author,” emphasized the Coinbase executive.

In 2016, Kraken acquired CaVirtEx, raising the possibility that the exchange may have information about Satoshi’s true identity.

Grogan recommended deleting any information regarding the Bitcoin creator if it exists.

It is worth noting that in the HBO documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, Peter Todd, a Canadian, was named as the creator of Bitcoin. However, the programmer denied this claim and was later forced to go into hiding for safety reasons.
