By 2030, a quarter of the companies in the S&P 500 index will include Bitcoin on their balance sheets as a long-term asset, according to Elliott Chun, a partner at consulting firm Architect Partners.

He believes growing interest in cryptocurrency is driven by pressure on CFOs who fear “losing their jobs.”

Strategy is the largest corporate Bitcoin holder among 89 publicly traded companies that store the digital asset, according to BitcoinTreasuries.

As of writing, the firm holds 506,137 BTC, with a total investment valued at $33.7 billion.

Notably, GameStop recently issued $1.3 billion in convertible bonds to purchase its first batch of Bitcoin.

Currently, Tesla and Block are the only S&P 500 companies that own Bitcoin. This means 123 more firms would need to invest in the asset by 2030 for Chun’s forecast to come true.

The expert emphasized that market leaders should not assume they can replicate Strategy’s success. He noted that such a strategy remains “untested” for most companies in terms of actual inflation protection or diversification.

Chun added that Bitcoin, as an asset management tool, has several advantages over gold, including ease of storage, transferability, and liquidity.

On March 26, Glassnode reported that large holders acquired over 129,000 BTC in two weeks.
