Ethereum Developers Unveil Kohaku Plan for Privacy & Wallet Security

ETH

Ethereum team launched the initiative Kohaku – roadmap aimed at improving privacy and security of crypto wallets. The project brings together modular tools, zero disclosure technologies (Zero-Knowledge Proofs) and decentralized transaction processing.

What is Kohaku

The launch of the project was announced by the coordinator of the Ethereum Foundation Nicolas Consigny. As part of the initiative, it is planned to create a set of tools and SDKs for developers that will allow you to integrate advanced security and privacy functions into crypto wallets.

The first prototype will be presented in the form browser extensionbased on wallet technology ambire. It is designed for experienced users who need more control over personal data and transactions.

Kohaku is being developed in collaboration with several well-known Ethereum ecosystem teams − ambire, Railgun, Defi Wonderland, Helios and Oblivious labs. The project is completely Open and posted on GitHubwhere any developer can contribute to its development.

Less centralization, more privacy

Kohaku’s main goal is to reduce the dependence of crypto wallets on centralized servicesthat can track user transactions.

The new architecture provides:

  • private sending and receipt of funds;
  • Hiding IP addresses;
  • Separate accounts for different dApp applications;
  • P2P Transmission Transactionsbypassing standard RPC servers.

In addition, Kohaku will implement mechanisms social restoration of access using technology zk email and Anon Aadhaar.

  • zk email Allows you to confirm the ownership of email without opening the address.
  • Anon Aadhaar Provides private identity with ZK evidence.

In the long term, the team intends to bring the security of wallets closer to “iron level» – create Native Ethereum browserwhere users will be able to interact securely with DApp, IPFS and other decentralized networks without data leaks.

Privacy Cluster initiative from Ethereum Foundation

Simultaneously with the launch of Kohaku, Ethereum Foundation announced the creation of a new research group – Privacy Cluster. It included 47 specialists: Engineers, cryptographers and researchers who will develop private solutions at the Ethereum protocol level.

Cluster will work with the command Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) over the introduction of technology confidential payments, anonymous identification and Zero-Knowledge-based infrastructure.

Kohaku will become part of this broader direction, along with other initiatives such as private reads & writes, private proving and private identities.

📍Kohaku’s initiative emphasizes Ethereum’s desire to regain control of its data while making the ecosystem safer and more independent of centralized mediators.
