OpenAI has enabled users to contact ChatGPT by calling or messaging on WhatsApp at 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478).

Voice interactions are available to users in the U.S., while WhatsApp messaging is accessible globally.
Phone calls, including those from landlines, are supported. Initially, U.S. residents receive 15 minutes of free voice calls per month. Future updates may adjust the availability and functionality of the service.

“[Our mission at] OpenAI is to make AI useful for all of humanity, and part of that is making it accessible to as many people as possible. Today, we’re taking the next step by bringing ChatGPT to your phone,” said OpenAI’s Product Director Kevin Weil.
The phone experience replicates conversations with ChatGPT in its enhanced voice mode, allowing the chatbot to answer questions and translate text between languages.
Future updates for WhatsApp may include image analysis and web search capabilities.
Notably, in December, OpenAI made its proprietary ChatGPT search tool available to all users, including those without a paid subscription.
