Apple has unveiled beta versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 for developers, featuring new capabilities, including ChatGPT integration, according to TechCrunch.
Users can activate ChatGPT via Siri, enabling it to answer questions and assist with text-based tasks in apps supporting the Writing Tools feature. If Siri cannot provide an answer, it will suggest using OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
New Features
The beta release introduces several new tools:
- Genmoji – Generates emojis based on user input.
- Image Playground – A platform for creating images.
- Visual Intelligence – Analyzes photos and text.
- Image Wand – Removes objects from photos.
Genmoji allows users to design custom emojis, while Image Playground generates visuals from text prompts or photos. Visual Intelligence can scan QR codes, recognize and translate text, and add details to contacts.
Updates and Compliance
The public release of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 is expected next week, featuring updates to Siri and enhanced AI-driven functions. To comply with European regulations, Apple has also added the ability to delete core apps like the App Store and Safari, with an option to reinstall them.
Context of Apple’s AI Expansion
In June, Apple announced its Apple Intelligence initiative to expand AI integration in its products, sparking debate, including a reaction from Elon Musk regarding ChatGPT’s incorporation into Apple’s ecosystem.
