The announcement of the second season of the Telegram clicker Hamster Kombat has led to an increase in spam messages from scammers. This was reported by Izvestia with reference to data from Kaspersky Lab.
In their messages, hackers, posing as the game’s developers, offer users the chance to participate in an airdrop of HMSTR tokens worth between $300,000 and $3 million. The attached link leads to a malicious website that asks users to connect their cryptocurrency wallets. If users approve the requested permissions, the attackers gain full access to their assets.
Additionally, fraudsters are creating phishing pages linked to the clicker. In October, experts from BI.ZONE identified 241 domains containing the word “hamster.”
According to the updated Hamster Kombat roadmap, the second airdrop is scheduled for spring 2025.
It’s worth noting that in June, analysts from F.A.C.C.T. detected two scam campaigns targeting Hamster Kombat players on Telegram.
At the same time, the project is rapidly losing its user base: since the listing in September, the number of users has decreased by 88%, from 300 million to 36.3 million.
Earlier, the developers of Hamster Kombat hinted at the upcoming launch of season two and commented on the decline in the price of the HMSTR token.
