The future of artificial intelligence lies in autonomous agents, not in large language models (LLMs) in the form of chatbots. This opinion was shared by Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
“I believe we’ve reached the ceiling of what LLMs can do,” he emphasized.
The head of the cloud computing software company pointed out that over the past few years, everyone has been “drinking the ChatGPT Kool-Aid.” As a result, “consumers have come to believe that artificial intelligence is more powerful than it actually is, and that LLMs are the key to technological progress.”
However, Benioff believes the future of AI lies in autonomous agents, not large language models.
Incredible: Government growth has outpaced frontline heroes like social workers and public safety officers, with regulatory, compliance, and political demands consuming up to 40% of budgets. “[…] AI agents can revolutionize operations, automate reporting, auditing, management, and direct services for citizens. The result? Billions saved, delays eliminated, agents able to prioritize public safety and well-being. Let’s replace bureaucracy with an agent-level system that serves people, not politics […]”, said Benioff.
He also warned against overhyped expectations about AI, particularly unrealistic claims that neural networks will solve major global problems like curing cancer or tackling climate change.
Reminder: In November, it was revealed that OpenAI plans to launch an AI agent.
