Chris Larsen, the co-founder of Ripple, made a significant donation to support the presidential campaign of Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party candidate. Larsen donated $1 million in XRP to the Future Forward political action committee (PAC), which supports Harris.

According to data from the U.S. Federal Election Commission, the amount of 1,754,815 XRP was transferred to the Future Forward account on August 14.

Harris’ Campaign and Digital Assets

In September, Kamala Harris began accepting donations in digital assets, using Coinbase as an intermediary for fundraising. The Future Forward PAC is also responsible for organizing the donation process, which is the official fundraising body for Harris.

As of writing, according to OpenSecrets, the committee has raised over $200 million.

Candidates’ Support for Cryptocurrencies

Kamala Harris has promised to support and promote cryptocurrencies. At the same time, Republican candidate Donald Trump referred to himself as the “Crypto President” and expressed his desire to make the U.S. the “crypto capital of the world.” Despite these statements, both candidates avoided discussing digital assets during the debates.

Impact on the Crypto Market

Earlier, experts suggested that a victory for Trump in the U.S. presidential election could be one of the factors driving Bitcoin above $80,000 by the end of the year.
