Over 20 residents of Granbury, Texas, have filed a lawsuit against the mining company MARA (formerly Marathon Digital), complaining about the constant noise and vibrations emanating from the crypto farm located near their homes. According to the plaintiffs, the noise has not only caused sensory and psychological effects but also health problems such as headaches, fatigue, migraines, and hearing loss.
“Even in their homes, residents can hear the noise from MARA and feel the vibrations,” the lawsuit states.
The residents argue that the noise, coupled with the high electricity consumption, has affected their property value and increased their utility bills. They are demanding that the company either cease operations or significantly reduce noise pollution.
Allegations and Demands
Rodrigo Cantu, an attorney from the law firm Earthjustice, representing the affected parties, called for immediate action from MARA to lower the noise levels or completely halt operations. The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for damages, legal costs, and an injunction to stop the mining facility from continuing its operations.

This case in Texas mirrors a situation in Norway, where residents of the Hadsel municipality succeeded in shutting down a mining facility due to noise issues. However, this decision led to a sharp increase in electricity prices in the region, causing new challenges for local residents.
