AI platform ai16z has rebranded to ElizaOS, founder Shaw Walters announced.

Initially named after the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), the project gained rapid traction in the AI x crypto sector. The name change aims to avoid trademark conflicts and establish a unified brand.

“Within just three months, we’ve scaled AUM 300x. Now, we’re building Eliza v2, the most advanced AI agent framework ever created, with a world-class team dedicated to AGI,” Walters stated.

Andreessen Horowitz managing partner Chris Dixon confirmed that the firm requested the name change to prevent confusion, clarifying that ai16z was never affiliated with a16z.

Despite the rebrand, the AI16Z ticker will remain unchanged until a DAO vote determines future updates. The project assured that the roadmap remains intact, with no new tokens planned.

The AI16Z token dropped 5% in 24 hours, now trading 75% below its $2.46 peak.
