Hackers compromised the X account of Animoca Brands’ chairman, Yat Siu, to promote a fake token.

The incident adds to a series of attacks targeting profiles such as streaming platform Kick, AI assistant Cursor, World (formerly Worldcoin) co-founder Alex Blania, meme coin Brett, and SocialFi app The Arena.
The attackers sent phishing emails masquerading as X support, urging users to click a malicious link to reset their access. The compromised accounts were used to promote fraudulent tokens.
On-chain detective ZachXBT initially reported the breach of Siu’s profile. According to him, the fake token promoted by the hackers originated from the same address as in several previous incidents.
At the time of writing, the posts made by the hackers from Siu’s account have been removed.
In November, hackers used the compromised X account of rapper Wiz Khalifa, with 35.7 million followers, to promote another fraudulent token.
