Argentine developer under a pseudonym Fede’s intern said he was released after being detained in the Turkish city of Izmir. He was accused of facilitating the “misuse of Ethereum.”
I’m finally out, safe and free. There was a small moment were things looked very bad but thanks to help from many I got released. Sorry if I didn’t answer every message. I was in calls non stop the last 24 hours with too many people and I only slept two hours.

“Finally, I am free and safe,” he wrote on the social network X.
According to the developer, he arrived in Izmir to meet with colleagues and entrepreneurs on the DeFi project. However, at passport control, he was detained and informed of the current entry ban.
The lawyer explained that the charge is related to the use of a certain privacy protocol. Fede’s intern suggested that it was about a study dedicated to a cryptomixer Tornado Cash.
‘We did not develop privacy features, we just published code and a paper showing how to de-anonymize users,’ he emphasized.
The developer stated that his work was purely research in nature.
After his release, Fede’s intern announced a donation $500 000 for legal protection of Tornado Cash co-founder Romana Shtorma. Initially, his company Lambda Class planned to allocate $50 000, but the amount was increased after the incident in Turkey.
Let us recall that earlier Roman Shtorm was found guilty of conspiracy to conduct an unlicensed money transfer business.
