James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, forecasts Bitcoin’s price to range between $80,000 and $150,000 in 2025.
He suggests that Bitcoin’s market cap could grow from its current 10% of gold’s market value to 25% in the long term, potentially pushing the cryptocurrency’s price to $250,000. However, such a surge is unlikely in 2025.
If U.S. President-elect Donald Trump fails to deliver on his cryptocurrency-related promises, the price may hover near the lower end of the forecast at $80,000.
“Disappointment over Trump’s proposed crypto initiatives and doubts about their implementation could trigger a significant market correction,” Butterfill stated. On the flip side, improved regulatory conditions in the U.S., as Butterfill expects, could drive Bitcoin to new highs.
In 2023, CoinShares analysts predicted Bitcoin would reach $80,000 by 2024.
Earlier, Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee also projected Bitcoin hitting $250,000.
