The founder and CEO of CryptoQuant, Ki Young Ju, stated that this year’s altcoin season will be “selective.” According to him, only projects with strong fundamentals and sustainable business models will outperform the broader market.

“Most altcoins won’t survive the 2025 market cycle,” the CryptoQuant CEO believes. He emphasized that cryptocurrencies with the potential to attract institutional investors through ETFs have a greater chance of success. The expert added that the “pump era” is over.

Ju’s forecast came as Bitcoin briefly dropped to $88,200, while the Fear and Greed Index plummeted to 25 points.

“The recent correction, with significant liquidations—especially in assets like Solana—and the overall market capitalization falling to $3.13 trillion, suggests a possible capitulation,” IntoTheBlock’s senior analyst told Cointelegraph.

Meanwhile, Redstone COO Marcin Kazmierczak noted that some altcoins have shown price recoveries despite low user activity. He believes this signals an early-stage market cycle. According to him, sustainable market growth will come later, with an expanding user base.

Previously, CryptoQuant warned about the risk of Bitcoin entering a bearish phase due to declining investor risk appetite.
