Ethereum Foundation Announces Leadership Changes

Xiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz Stanczak have been appointed as the new co-executive directors of the Ethereum Foundation (EF). They will assume their roles on March 17, as announced in the organization’s blog.

“If we play our cards right, today will be remembered as one of the most significant turning points in Ethereum’s history,” commented core developer Tim Beiko on the appointments.

Stanczak is the founder of Nethermind and an early member of Flashbots. Beiko endorsed his selection, highlighting his experience in Ethereum client development and scaling one of the most successful independent organizations in the ecosystem. Stanczak will continue working at Nethermind but will step down from his role as project director.

Wang has spent seven years at Ethereum Foundation as a researcher and contributed to the development of Beacon Chain.

“[Wang] is one of the few people who were directly involved in the Ethereum 2.0 transition from the very beginning. She literally created the first diagram demonstrating how sharding works,” Beiko added.

According to him, Wang understands how research translates into specifications that eventually make their way into Ethereum clients.

On February 25, Ethereum Foundation CEO Aya Miyaguchi announced her transition to the role of president of the organization.

“Teams and individuals around the world speak about Ethereum as if it’s their own, but it is precisely in this tension that our greatest strength lies: Ethereum belongs to everyone because it belongs to no one,” she stated.

Reminder: In February, Ethereum Foundation established an independent group called Silviculture Society to uphold the network’s core values.
