U.S. law enforcement officials have scheduled a trial for Terra founder Do Kwon for January 2026, citing the need to process a substantial volume of evidence.

“The trial date is set for January 26, 2026. I’m giving you one week to request another date, or the train leaves,” Judge Paul Engelmayer said, according to Inner City Press.

Preliminary court documents indicate that prosecutors must review “terabytes” of data related to the case, including information from Kwon’s devices, online accounts, emails, trading history, and third-party testimony. Portions of the evidence will also need to be translated from Korean.

Kwon faces eight charges, including multiple counts of securities and commodities fraud using electronic communications. On January 2, 2025, an additional charge of money laundering was added. He has pleaded not guilty.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Kwon could face up to 130 years in prison if found guilty on all counts.

The next preliminary hearing—focusing on future steps in the legal process—is scheduled for March 6.

Do Kwon remains in a New York correctional facility while awaiting trial.
