On December 8, unknown attackers hacked the official Cardano Foundation account on X, posting a series of fake statements on behalf of the organization. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson confirmed the breach.

The hackers used the compromised account to promote a token called ADAsol, falsely claiming it was launched by Cardano developers on the Solana blockchain. Users reportedly generated about $500,000 in trading volume.

The attackers later posted a fake announcement alleging that the SEC had filed a lawsuit against the organization.

“In light of this unexpected lawsuit, we have made the difficult decision to immediately cease support for the ADA token to comply with regulatory requirements,” the hackers wrote, impersonating the Cardano Foundation.

The Cardano team clarified that only the X account was affected, and all other channels and systems remain secure.

As a reminder, on December 4, hackers targeted Solana developers by compromising a JavaScript library.
