Meta is testing the use of artificial intelligence in Instagram to assist with comment writing. This was noticed by X user, John Manzano.

During the analysis of new features, he spotted the option “Write with Meta AI.” The tool allows users to generate comments to post under their friends’ posts.
The service is hidden under a pencil icon next to the text field for users who have access to the test feature. After clicking the button, Meta AI will analyze the photo and offer three comment options.
For example, if the image shows a smiling person with a thumbs-up in their living room, the AI might suggest writing something like:
- “Love the cozy atmosphere”
- “Great spot for a photoshoot”
- “Cute living room setup”
If the user doesn’t like the suggestions, they can generate new ones.
Meta regularly tests new AI features. Last year, it experimented with summarizing comments on Facebook.
Recall that in June 2024, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the addition of AI-generated characters in Instagram, created by authors using AI Studio.
