In the near future, Russia will introduce a ban on cryptocurrency mining in several regions. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Evgeny Grabchak, according to TASS.
The reason for the restriction, he explained, is the electricity deficit.
“Currently, in deficit zones such as the Far East, the southwest of Siberia, and the South of Russia, we will not be able to provide large capacities to anyone until 2030,” Grabchak clarified.
Authorities plan to ban any activities related to cryptocurrency mining, including participation in mining pools.
