OpenAI is set to integrate the video generator Sora into its ChatGPT chatbot, according to Rohan Sahay, head of neural network development at OpenAI, as reported by TechCrunch.

Currently, the tool is only available through the web application, allowing users to create videos up to 20 seconds long. In the future, the company plans to expand the model’s capabilities and broaden its integration options.

Sahay did not specify a timeline for the integration with ChatGPT. He also mentioned that the functionality of the tool may change during the development process.

Initially, Sora was not included in ChatGPT to maintain the chatbot’s simplicity, Sahay explained. He added that a separate mobile app for the video generator is in the works, with the team actively seeking developers.

Sahay also noted that OpenAI plans to enhance Sora’s image creation capabilities. While the company already has a solution based on the DALL-E 3 model, the video generator could provide more photorealistic results.

It is worth remembering that in December 2024, OpenAI made Sora publicly available. The neural network generates videos from text prompts, brings images to life, extends existing videos, and fills in missing frames.

In August, it was revealed that Alibaba is working on Tora, a video generation tool based on OpenAI’s technology.
