Crypto exchange Coinbase has expanded its Global Advisory Council by adding four new members with political and financial expertise.
The new members are:
- Former U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema
- Chris LaCivita, co-manager of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign
- Former New York Federal Reserve Bank President Bill Dudley
- Luis Alberto Moreno, an expert in global development and international finance
Coinbase’s Chief Policy Officer, Faryar Shirzad, emphasized that the company is fortunate to have some of the brightest minds in finance, technology, and policy guiding its future.
Sinema highlighted that Americans’ desire for financial control underscores the importance of modernizing financial systems. However, she noted that clear regulations are still necessary, even with a crypto-friendly Trump administration and the appointment of David Sacks as “Crypto Czar”.
She stated, “Without proper legislation and consumer education, people cannot confidently navigate the crypto space.”
LaCivita took a pro-Trump stance, criticizing the previous administration’s treatment of crypto.
“The crypto industry deserves better than what it got from the previous administration. I look forward to working with Coinbase as we enter a new political era, led by the first pro-crypto president and the most pro-crypto administration and Congress in history, making America a global leader in crypto,” he said.
Dudley called this a “key moment in the evolution of cryptocurrencies,” while Moreno believes crypto removes financial barriers worldwide.
