Throughout 2024, the total value locked (TVL) in Ethereum liquid restaking protocols skyrocketed from $284 million to $17 billion — an increase of nearly 6000%.
The majority of this amount ($9.1 billion) is attributed to the Ether.Fi protocol, followed by Kelp ($1.8 billion), Eigenpie ($1.6 billion), and Renzo ($1.4 billion).
These figures highlight the growing popularity of restaking and its associated liquidity tokens, despite earlier concerns over potential detachment from the underlying asset and risks of yield crises.
Nevertheless, restaking in Ethereum still lags significantly behind traditional staking in terms of volume. The combined TVL of traditional staking protocols exceeds $53 billion.
According to Dune Analytics, a total of 34.4 million ETH is currently locked in Ethereum staking, amounting to approximately $133 billion—or 28.1% of the total Ethereum supply.
