On November 3, unknown individuals gained access to Wiz Khalifa’s X account, which has 35.7 million followers, and published a post promoting a fraudulent meme token called WIZ. The on-chain detective ZachXBT brought attention to the incident.
In the tweet, the hackers, posing as the musician, announced a giveaway of the token, which he supposedly developed with his team. The post was deleted by the time of writing.
Fifteen minutes after the WIZ token was issued on the platform Pump.fun, its price rose to $0.002518, but within an hour it plummeted by 84% to $0.00001419, as holders began dumping the coin.
According to DEX Screener, at the time of writing, the price of WIZ stands at $0.000008563 with a market cap of $10,000.
Aggregated data from Solscan shows that the two largest holders purchased just over 155 million WIZ tokens at launch, selling them for a total profit of $160,000.
According to ZachXBT, the same hacker responsible for this attack was behind the breach of AI bot developer Andy Airy’s Truth Terminal account on October 29.
It is worth noting that in July, the X account of rapper Doja Cat was also hacked to promote a scam token.
