Deutsche Telekom has unveiled a new smartphone with an integrated chatbot, Perplexity AI. The announcement was made at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
The device will feature the digital assistant Perplexity AI and a set of AI tools:
– Google Cloud AI — for instant translation and object recognition via the camera.
– ElevenLabs — for voice creation.
– Picsart — for generating avatars and personalizing profile photos.
All features run on Magenta AI, Deutsche Telekom’s proprietary system, available through the MeinMagenta app. The new smartphone is expected to be released in the second half of 2025.
The concept of the device was demonstrated at MWC 2024. It is positioned as an app-free phone, controlled by voice. According to the developers, the gadget will be able to book flight tickets and reserve restaurant tables independently.
Claudia Nemat, member of the Deutsche Telekom board, emphasized that the smartphone with Perplexity Assistant will simplify everyday tasks, such as calling a taxi and online shopping, without the need to switch between apps.

Exact technical specifications are still unknown. However, based on available images, the gadget resembles budget Android smartphones with wide bezels at the top and bottom.
Previously, Apple announced the iPhone 16e with Apple Intelligence for $599, and Samsung introduced flagship Galaxy S25 series with enhanced AI features.
