The developers of the non-custodial wallet TON Space have introduced support for paying network fees using Telegram Stars. This feature aims to simplify cryptocurrency transactions for the millions of users on the messaging platform and expand digital goods purchases in mini-apps.

“Using Stars to cover blockchain fees will ensure seamless and easy transactions, driving broader adoption of the TON blockchain,” said The Open Platform CEO Andrey Rogozov.

The payment mechanism is integrated similarly to the Battery feature in the Tonkeeper wallet, utilizing a prepaid balance to automatically cover transaction fees when needed.

In December 2024, TON Space completed its beta testing phase, surpassing 100 million accounts.

Earlier that year, developers of TON and Tonkeeper introduced support for gas-free transactions under the W5 Smart Wallet standard.
