An illegal mining farm with 250 devices was discovered in Shelekhov, Irkutsk Region, according to the city prosecutor’s office.
The equipment was housed in a non-residential building and belonged to a private individual who was not registered as a cryptocurrency miner.
Additionally, the Shelekhovsky district is included in the list of territories where crypto mining is prohibited during the winter period from January 1, 2025, to March 15, 2031.

The total unaccounted electricity consumption amounted to approximately 1 MW. Law enforcement halted the mining operation and seized the equipment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into property damage caused by fraud or abuse of trust.
Previously, experts estimated that “gray” miners cause annual losses of 10 billion rubles to Russia. In 2024, this figure exceeded 1.3 billion rubles.
As a reminder, on September 1, Russia introduced legislation to regulate cryptocurrency mining and set electricity consumption limits for individual miners.
